Milestone's three-quarter-way house for men, the "Beach House," serves the residents of Milestone's Extended Care Program. The purpose of the house is to help clients transition into permanent residence elsewhere in the community. There is no minimum or maximum residency in the three-quarter-way house, but it is not expected to be a person's permanent home.
While Milestone will encourage independence from Milestone while living in the facility, it is a building and program owned and operated by the Milestone Foundation, Inc. which has ultimate fiscal and program responsibility for it.
Lease agreements with residents of the Beach House will be for six months. In the event individual circumstances require, a resident may request from Milestone an extension to the lease agreement for a specified length of time.
Drinking and drugging will result in an automatic discharge from the Beach House. Other behavior or suspected behavior that is detrimental to the sobriety of the residents and harmony of the house (e.g. violent behavior, threats, sexual acting out, theft) will be dealt with by the residents and Milestone staff.
Gambling on the part of a resident will elicit a warning from the Milestone staff of a potential discharge. Failure to completely terminate all gambling activities would result in a discharge of the offending resident (with a two-week notice).
All residents of the Beach House are expected to be active participants in Milestone's aftercare program. Each resident will design an aftercare plan with their prime counselor and will be assigned an aftercare counselor. Failure to comply with the terms of the aftercare treatment plan will result in discharge from the Beach House.
